A stovetop coffee maker that belongs on the shelf as much as on the hob, the kind of object that carries its age honestly and still does what it was made for.
Cast aluminium body with a deep burgundy handle. The two-chamber construction works by pressure: fill the base, screw the chambers together, and heat. At 3–4 cup capacity, scaled for a small table or a morning routine for two. Patina and surface staining across the aluminium body are consistent with decades of kitchen use. No rubber seal included. A vintage moka pot from the early Italian stovetop coffee tradition, as functional in form as it is in use.
A Caffexpress aluminium moka pot made in Italy in the 1950s. The Italian stovetop coffee maker is one of the defining domestic objects of the twentieth century. The Bialetti patent of 1933 set the pressure-chamber form that every subsequent maker, including Caffexpress, followed.
