A rectangular plate that crosses over — a small plate for food, a tray for what collects on a desk, a catch-all by the door for keys and the day’s odds and ends.
Bavarian porcelain with a clean rectangular form and soft rounded corners. The white body is smooth and even, the proportions low and useful. At 24 × 16 cm it holds a course or a handful of small things without taking over a surface.
Made by Winterling, one of the Bavarian porcelain houses that produced tableware in the Rehau region of northern Bavaria through the twentieth century. Bavarian porcelain of this kind was made to a standard of whiteness and durability that kept it in daily use across generations.
